Anger & Emotional Regulation
For over 15 years, I've worked as a clinician specializing in anger and emotional regulation, which I treat not as a single presentation but as a spectrum of expressions. My practice addresses both the loud, overt expressions of anger that bring people into crisis and the quiet, controlled forms: resentment, shutdown, and the costly composure of anger that never gets named. This depth of focused experience allows me to work with clients wherever their anger lives, whether it erupts outward, withdraws inward, or shows up somewhere in between.
Anger rarely travels alone. In my practice, I work with the constellation of issues that so often accompany it: the relationship strain of repeated conflict or emotional withdrawal, the shame and guilt that follow an outburst, the chronic resentment that builds when anger has nowhere to go, and the anxiety that can underlie a short fuse. I also see how anger intersects with control, both the felt loss of it and the compulsion to hold onto it, as well as the toll of walking on eggshells, whether as the person whose anger looms over a household or the partner managing around it. For some clients, this work touches on parenting stress, workplace conflict, or the slow erosion of self-esteem that comes from feeling perpetually "too much" or perpetually silenced.
